Power in The Clay

morepowerplug.jpg

We all need it…Power. Whether its power to achieve a dream or overcome an obstacle. Whatever its application…we need it. Its source can be sometimes overlooked, but the effects are always recognized, defined and impactful. I am doing a study on “Power” right now. The creative source and title of my current series is from one of my incredible elders in the faith, Bishop TF Tenney (I am proud of the fact that I can say, “I was ordained by Him”). I believe we are created to become great, not merely average or good! A people Continue Reading »

The Big “E” Baby

Okay…I was going to try and save this for a little while. I guess I don’t have the problems that a lot of Pastors and preachers have, I hear that they dont have enough to preach (how about the bible)? I have way to much all the time! God is just too awesome and abundant. He has given us a lot to talk about. My creative brain has come up (because of God) with yet another amazing thought. I believe that the church is very simply about the big “E”. Have you ever had an eye exam? The letter on the top of the chart is the letter “E” This letter represents the easiest letter to read for an eye exam. It is bold, it is big, and it is in your face! Ha ha, The only problem is if you cannot see this letter you have got to be as blind as a bat! Some churches…lets break it down, some people are really out of focus, so much so that they cannot even see this big “E” We have a task to do and its all about Evangelism. We are here as a church to bring those hurting, discouraged and far from God to a life full of Love, Hope and Healing in Jesus Christ! Its all about the Big “E” ladies and gentlemen! The Big “E”

this woman rocks!

gaylaplug.jpg

“Gayla Myer” or as I lovingly call her “Mamma G”…There isnt really just one thing I can name that makes my wife the most beautiful and priceless woman I know…Its the way she loves me and listens to my sermons 5 times a week and then on sunday (even though I know this has got to drive her crazy, sorry) and still acts interested…its all the amazing writing she does…its her incredible abstract art (of which I am her biggest fan!)…its the care and compassion she shows while raising 2 very energetic children…its the fact that she is carrying another one…its the fact that she seldom ever (more like never) complains…its the amazing way that she can do all this and be absolutely smoking red hot gorgeous! I know I have not adequately described all that this amazing woman has done and means to me…I love her and She is truly a great woman that rocks!

Men before you judge me too harshly…you should try telling your wife how much she means to you…or maybe you like staying in the dog house! ha ha

This is what God seeks!

…it seems so ominous to think about what does God want? I wonder if we have lost interest in even knowing…I know that life is so often gauged by what we want and the things we need. True, that God is concerned with these things for us. But perhaps the greatest of all pleasures is to discover what God wants! The thought is pretty much everywhere in Gods word…God is looking for and seeking after someone that will seek after him. He is on a search for a person that will say with their whole heart, God I want you more than anything else in this life! I am in love with God! I am a God seeker!

In fact, Jesus said, “the father seeks after people that would worship him in spirit (intimacy) and in truth (righteousness) and the bible is full of the stories of people that sought after God with everything…David is such a prime example of a man that loved and worshipped God completely. he started out a boy shepharding his fathers sheep…while worshipping and singing love songs to God. He was exactly what God wanted too. The word of God lets us know that when it came time to anoint a new king God went looking Continue Reading »

Complete Healing in Jesus!

Recently I was studying the mission of Jesus Christ for a series on “Characters Welcome…” Jesus’ life was so totally consumed with the mission and passion of God to restore man to his place of power and relationship with God. Jesus picks up the book of Isaiah and begans reading from the prophecy found there in chapter 61 and verse 1…It goes like this, (luke 4:16-21) “…The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord!” When we break this down and consider the wealth of what is being expressed, we find complete healing of the body, soul and spirit! My greatest Joy!

With fathers day approaching, I have been thinking about my Dad and how we always get him the same thing every year…a new wallet. It is kind of a tradition. I love my dad a lot…I guess it wasnt until I became a father that I realized how much he loves me. I just recieved a really great card from my son Nathan…who is in 1st grade. He told me how much that I meant to him and that he loves to be with me. Brooklynn my daughter drew me a picture and told me how much she loves me (she couldnt be out done). I melt to hear them say those words to me. It made me really think about how great it is to have a great son and a beautiful daughter Brooklynn. We spent the other day at Buffalo wings eating and playing the “buzz time” trivia game. We won! Out of the whole place we came in first. It was really cool to show off our Myer brains. They have been a big help with all our church planting work. There is nothing greater than being a father. I know I won’t even come close to expressing what this means but its just the greatest thing in the world! Only the fathers reading this will understand what I am saying!

our Vision, 10 unique values

Recently I sat in a overstuffed chair in the middle of a really nice Barnes and Nobles, enjoying one of my favorite past times reading…no I really do love it. If you want to buy me something for my birthday (April 13) or just because you love me…buy me a book or a mini cooper. I wont hold my breathe on the second one. Anyway, I was reading through a book on Vision. It got me to thinking about mission and vision and goals. The thing is mission is what God has designed his church for. Its already set. I believe our mission is outlined in Isaiah 61:1-3. However vision is the very tangible, very specific ways that we will achieve this mission. Our vision for HPC is clearly described in these ten uique values: (These are ten things we are striving to become and achieve!)

1. Deeper seeking of God
• through worship and the word, (downpour)
• encouragement of personal daily prayer

2. Deeper commitment in our prayer,
• 24/7 prayer room
• Personal and corporate

3. Our commitment to New Birth message;
• Baptism in Christ name, Matt 28:19, Acts 10:48, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16
• Baptism in the Spirit, John 3:5, Acts 11:16,

4. Our compassionate heart…Ministering to needs in the community
• “Servolution”
• Food distribution
• Community Reach

5. Relevant venues, to age, and to spiritual depth…all are welcomed!
• Sunday Service; unbelievers, young believers in mind, multi service with different styles.
• Downpour; more mature believers, deeper dimension of worship and word

6. Our trait of growing closer through Fellowship
• Connect Groups

7. Our trait of “open” involvement in ministry
• Opportunities for immediate involvement (open to all)
• Ministry training and development

8. Deeper in Biblical study
• Life Institute, (Wed evening) “The deeper the roots…the higher the reach!”
• Encouragement of personal daily devotion
• Leadership and Pastoral Development

9. Our heart for Missions and Evangelism
• Multi Campus sites
• Overseas and Home mission projects
• Television and Media

10. HPC Life Center
Worship, Ministry, Family Life Center, (“Building for Life”)
• Warehouse, Lease
• Construction of a Campus
• Addition of College and School

Servolution Baby!

A revolution of radical serving! I believe that as we reach out aand truly minister to those around us we will see them drawn by God to come to know him! This coming Saturday, June 14 HPC will be handing out 1000’s of water bottle to people in our city. It is going to be awesome! Plus we get to wear some really cool looking T-Shirts…thanks Austin! I just have a two words Servolution Baby! Servolution!
